First and foremost , I am an android programmer who believes in free software for all, so one thing I promise I would always ensure, that this app remains completely free and devoid of any irritating advertisement.Ok let me now introduce you to the driving concept behind this app. The idea is to know the location of your friends and also be able to send own location to a selected group of friends. The medium of knowing or sending location can either be data i.e. Internet or plain old SMS. To have a location fix, we would either use GPS, the Network or the parameters of the serving Cell , which are the CID i.e. Cell ID and LAC i.e. Location area code of the BTS to which your cell phone is connected. The SMS exchanged in the group can be encrypted using AES 256 bit to ensure secrecy.
Ok now lets see what is required to use this app. Once you have installed this app you could register yourself on to the server at URL http://friendscorner.info/tracker/ using the registration link in the menu of the app or on the website . You need to register only if you intend to share your location on the above mentioned URL. Incase you do not wish to, you could skip this part and come straight to the app. However, I would recommend that you get register and then log on using those credentials in order to exploit the complete functionality. I would refer to that mode as the online mode or Data mode and the other as the offline or SMS Mode.
Let me explain to you the SMS Mode first.
To start with to use this mode first you need to add the contacts from whom you are likely to receive a SMS to know your location or you would like to send a SMS containing your location details........................
I am in the process of writing the full description and I have not completed yet. I would be adding to this everyday based on the time I get from busy schedule at office and also the development of the app. Till then you cam experiment on your own, however, don't forget to send me the bug report to improve the app.
